About Us – simpletune

Welcome to simpletune, your dedicated destination for South African Maskandi music, artists, albums, songs, and the stories shaping one of South Africa’s most distinctive musical traditions.

simpletune was created with a simple purpose: to celebrate, promote, and preserve Maskandi music while helping fans discover both established and emerging artists.

Celebrating South African Maskandi Music

Maskandi is deeply connected to Zulu musical and storytelling traditions, particularly in KwaZulu-Natal. The genre is widely recognised for its expressive vocals, distinctive guitar playing, concertina influences, and lyrics that tell stories about everyday life, love, hardship, identity, culture, and society.

At simpletune, we believe this music deserves a dedicated digital home where listeners can stay connected with the artists, songs, albums, and cultural stories that continue to move the genre forward.

Our platform covers new Maskandi songs, latest Maskandi albums, artist updates, music news, trending releases, and other developments within the South African Maskandi community.

Discover New and Established Maskandi Artists

South Africa has a rich community of Maskandi musicians, from legendary performers who helped build the genre to a new generation introducing the sound to younger audiences.

simpletune aims to give these artists greater visibility by helping music lovers discover their latest projects and learn more about the people behind the music.

Maskandi itself continues to evolve. Younger listeners and artists are increasingly embracing the genre, while some contemporary musicians combine traditional Maskandi elements with influences from genres such as Amapiano, gospel, and hip-hop.

We want simpletune to reflect both sides of that journey — respecting the traditions that built Maskandi while following the new sounds shaping its future.
